Rayman006, that is getting closer but still not quite hitting the mark. I think I will have to re-shoot with a different lighting set-up.

Thanks for your input, how did you go about achieving that effect?

Hi Chillin, that make the faces look too grey, a bit strange even.

Hi MatthewMarshall, I think you are right about starting with an image closer to where I want to be to start with - if only I had the skills!
I tried to download your action from the link you posted but it does not seem to take me anywhere... Can you check the link and re-post?

Thought I would try just to see if I could replicate it using your lighting

Its working just save the file in a folder then open it in photoshop. works with photoshop cs3 not sure if it will in cs 2.

Just wondering has anyone else tried this.

its a really simple effect you see the layer are just filtered. The funny thing is i made it an action cuz i use that effect on so many senior photos now. Some reason the kids think its cool. The link is below again do if you just reading this you dont have to go back in pages

here is my try...
i did selective color correction...
brightness & contrast...
hue & saturation...
and curves.
