Could i be on to something?

Ok i was playing around in photoshop yesterday. I went to highpass, and set it just high enough so i could see the grunge and imperfections of the skin, not just the detail. I mean up in the 10+ where the color is coming through and you can see all the nasties of the skin very well. I then inverted that layer, and set it to overlay. And woah! No more nasties. The skin did look a bit weird though, but not in a bad way at all. I also copied the original layer and put it as the first layer. Then i erased that layer in the areas i wanted the clear skin to show through, i will post and example layer. But i would like you all to try this and see if it could lead to something, or if its already been done.

Hi

You can find a tutorial which posted ByRo with that kind of technique, called DeGrunge". Look for it in the tutorial section.

Cheers...JavierT

HI Insensitive:

I have been trying it and it works. Is like a short way to Degrunge.

Setting the blend mode to overlay it looks (IMO) too much blurry and I have changed to softlight, masked with blank the background dupe and painted in that mask softly and very subtlely (10% opacity) with black, only in the desired areas, trying to save most of texture.

I have tried it in a picture with not very regular areas below the nose and the chin and it works quite well. After that, a little sharpening (high pass and blend mode to vivid light) and the result looks fine.

I think is another way to work, but not to use it like the only tool to get a flawless skin.

Thanks a lot, Insensitive
