How to get the mixtape style

HI. Im new here but have been some time with photoshop.I have seen many different tutorials but no one to tell me how to transform pics into the mixtape style.

Example:

What i am looking for is how to transform people to that style.

search for the "dave hill" look. and it has to do allot not only with post work but with setting your light appropiately. There's a thread in this area about him check it out
