I've been trying to get rid of my double chin but to no avail. I am so desperate to remove it. Please can anyone give me any ideas how to retouch my picture. I have photoshop elements 4. Thanks very much for your help. xtin143

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic Hello and welcome, First let me say that I really don't see a double chin. You look fine. However, most viewers see a double chin in a photo due to the shadow it creates. One method is to sample skin color from the neck area (lighter skin). Then, on a new layer with a soft brush with about 15% opacity, paint away the shadow. Another possibility would be there really is no shadow, but you want to reshape the chin slightly. Most people like the "Liquify" filter. It is very easy to use. Merge your image up to a new layer. Open the filter. Set the brush rather large, about twice the size of your cheek bone area. You can leave most of the other settings at their defaults. Click, hold and slightly pull up the chin line; repeat for the other side. Too much and it will look fake. Hope this gets you going in the right direction. Good luck !

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic I agree with Tommy. I took care of the shadowed area by cloning the hair strand from one side and the cheek from the other side. Some painting smoothed the area out. Juergen

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic Here's what happens when you use a little bit of liquify, a little bit of cloning and healing, and a little bit of dodge and burn (plus a little bit of touchup and high pass sharpening). Ta-da! Jaw bulge is gone along with flash hot spots. Might have gone a bit overboard with the liquify. Tommy has told you how you can do it yourself, though.

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic I did not see any double chin. There was some of the long, dark hair on the girl that seemed to darken the area which I cloned out. dc Last edited by DCobb; 06-11-2008 at 02:13 AM.

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic xtin143, welcome to RetouchPRO! Nice to have you aboard. I am confused... who has the double chin? the male or female and exactly what do you want fixed?

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic I think maybe we have all made a quick assumption that xtin is actually the female making the request because I can find nothing to help me identify which is which. Secondly, if xtin is the female, once again I am forever in awe of women and their ability to rip themselves apart. DOUBLE CHIN??? Are you SERIOUS??? You are beautiful silly girl. I see they have helped you already but give yourself a break. I'd pay good money to have your double chin instead of mine. Wait a second?? That maybe did not sound just quite right? UMmmmm? Okay, Ummm, I am shutting up now or I'll say something really embarrassing. Namaste, c

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic Hi there Like most I thought your photo was just fine... but like others above I deepened the shading of the jaw line then added a small amount of hair. Butch

The one with double chin is me (the female in the pic). It's actually the side of my face that needs tweaking because of the excess fat. LOL!! Sam looks perfect. Does anyone know where I can find liquify on Photoshop Elements 4? Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. |

I think the white glasses look fab on him. The 80s fashion is making a comeback. |

Re: Please help retouch my concert pic Liquify is found under "Filters".. usually near the top of the list. Most of us don't use Elements, so it is hard to recall if they nested it under another filter group. Again, use a large brush.. otherwise you get real curvey results, not gradual ones.
