Spotting altered areas

Hi guys and gerls this is my first post so I hope this hasnt been covered before..

So I have some images and I'm trying to figure out if they have been altered
mostly to change the apperance of a face and im wondering if a tattoo has been edited out ..

Basically what Im asking is how would one go about identifying if these images have infact been altered and what are the tell tales of this type of editing ?

Adobe has been developing some algorithms to do exactly what you are asking, but it is proprietary software at this time. It is being developed for the forensics and journalistic trades to detect "fauxtography".

You may find hints in the meta data comparing dates of the shoot and dates of file modification to see if it's ever been opened in an editor. Short of that, I don't know other than a good eye.

ok so Im trying to see if a tattoo has been edited out in the first picture, see the circled area in the 2nd pic , also I wonder if the face has been altered in the third pic , it seems a bit too smooth and lighted...

opinions ?
