Re: any clue?

Hard to say for sure - the image is so small it's tough to see. Looks to me like a lowering of saturation then duplicating the layer and applying smart blur. The blurring effect can then be painted where desired by use of a layer mask.

Re: any clue?

Yep, he used a soft box with a grid, and had two kicker lights that were flagged from hitting the background. He did desaturate a bit, but that could also be because he used a neutral gray backdrop. He boosted contrast, dodged and burned in for shape. Probably healed skin. Used a pro level dslr. Also he probably used a selective desaturate so he could keep the rich tones of the skin. Maybe used blend properties of layers (adjustment) to make the highlights pop out. I could be mistaken though. There are always ten ways to do the same thing in Photoshop. Plus it is a small file. Is there a larger image somewhere online?

Re: any clue?

no problem, it is always hard to see detail in such small files.

Re: any clue?

this could also be an HDR. It doesn't have the surreal almost posterized look of some HDRs but the light range is high
