High key attempt and need help... Here's a SOOC shot that I think would look great with a high key effect. But I've never done it and would love to see what you guys come up with. If you could tell me how you achieve the look it would be greatly appreciated. I'm also attaching my first attempt. Thanks! Brandi

Re: High key attempt and need help... carseasoncity, Quick try. Just adjusted color. Raised the mid tones. Put a white layer under neigh. Added a mask and pained away the edges by hand. Well, not by hand but you know what I mean.

Re: High key attempt and need help... I put a plain white layer underneath the image layer. Duplicated the image layer and set the original to 55% opacity. The duplicate is completely masked out, except for the eyes, lips and hair. A cooling photo filter brings in a blueish tint. The surrounding area is placed on a separate layer, which is set to Screen at 25%. Some sharpening and contrast adjustments. Juergen

Re: High key attempt and need help... Biggest problem was with the neck and bodice? of the dress being in bright sunlight and the face in shade. Careful mask construction and curves/hue saturation to tone down this. Would be better to be more careful at the taking stage. Softness added last with blurred Screen/multiply layers and adjusted using opacity. Some sharpening where required. Didn't remove the dark right hand lower corner but would prefer if it wasn't there.

| Re: High key attempt and need help... Hi Brandi, There are quite a few ways to do this as you can see from the other members. It comes down to personal preference. This is how I did this one. hue & saturation->blues -100 brightness and contrast- brightness-+29, contrast-0 curves-> reduced the blue channel in the middle (this brings up the yellow to warm it up) increased the red channel (this ads color to the skin). All these settings can be adjusted to suit you own taste, on a high res photo you would still do some d&b, patching, bluring and sharpening. Hope this helps, Barry.
