What would you do...bride in barn...??

I've attached the original and my edit of this shot from a recent trash the dress session. What would you do to make it really stand out? If you come up with something please let me know how you did it. I'm using photoshop 7 but will soon have cs3.
Thanks!
B

I am sooooo confused! Trash the dress session means what?
I have absolutely no idea what you want so, using PS7 cloned light areas then did a levels adj...

Did a warm version a cool version and a trashed version using Kens (Cameraken) Solar-Curve and masked her back in..

~~Warm~~ cool~~ Trashed

Baldy, I think that there is a whole uhm, "thing" about trashing wedding dresses. Iv'e seen ads for girls who want to trash the dress.

I took this and thought "well, the light source IS in back..." and then I ran with it. I may have run too far.

Comments appreciated.

"Trash the dress" is a fairly new thing where a former bride sets up a session to get shots of her wearing her dress in precarious situations that she would NEVER have attempted on the day of the wedding. Such as in an old barn, on the beach laying in the waves, in a creek, or in a junkyard. The idea is that you only wear it once, so why not wear it one more time and get awesome pictures of yourself in it because your daughter won't wear it anyway.

So I'm not looking for a particular "trashy" edit, just something to make the picture pop or stand out.
Thanks for the edits so far.

Hey B,

The subject will pop out when you make de background darker (but still light enough to see that it was taken in a barn).
I openend 2 objects in CS3: 1st a lighter copy of the photo and adjusted exposure, lightning, added (high) contrast, darkened the blacks and set a proper saturation/color temperature. 2nd a darker copy of the photo (adjusted exposure and contrast).
Masked out the barn around the bride, so it was more visible.
Then merged 2 new layers: one for Highpass sharpen and on the lower layer is little diffuse glow.
..Just a quick retouch, which may work for you???

Dennis

O I C, the location is also important!
Maybe this is a little more appropriate then...

using PS7 ...
did a fake HDR using Photomatix Pro 2.2.0.24
slight emboss of dress using Buzz Pro
levels on orig
Imagenomic portraiture on girl to get rid of artifacts
masked them all together
straightened
cropped\then cloned the corners
enough playing

Brightened up the canopy thing. applied a grad map to dress to bring out some detail and a few colour tweaks

Thanks!

I actually like your own monochrome interpretation the best.

On the other hand, if you're gonna shoot in a barn, you might as well show the barn. And warm up the bride, 'cause brides should be warm.
