I love this effect.. any tips?

I'm sure you all must get tired of the "show me how to do this" threads. I know it's not straight forward. But I was going to try and get this kind of effect with a few football shots I've got.

Any advice is much welcomed, thanks everyone!

Re: I love this effect.. any tips?

O.K I give it a try !

Clean up the uniforms and major things !
copy desaturate multiply mode or luminosity mask or chanell blending for
contrast
Warm it up skin tones
Light painting / dodge and burning

I dont like the composite wrong image fake light beams desaturate etc.

I think best part of the this photo nice color scheme

I hope it helps

Re: I love this effect.. any tips?

The lightbeams I'm guessing are just solid colours, blurred into oblivion with noise added.

For a great noise thing, search the internet for "Dan's fantastic grain" should be on flickr, but might be floating around elsewhere. Otherwise I'll post it somewhere.

Hope this helps.

I do not believe it is a comp. I believe it is a painted backdrop. I also don't believe that Photographer/art director intended it to look real.
