Need Some Advice On Achieving A Specific Look :)

Hey Everyone! Tommy here!

I have been reading the forum for months now...and I felt a little hesistant to post because EVERYTHING has pretty much been discussed!

But Im going to make my first post today

I recently did a shoot with my boyfriend and I then came home to stumble on some images that I LOVED the look/style of them. Most of the shots look like post work...my pictures, of course, arent the exact lighting, but I think its still close enough to possibly work it in photoshop.

premade filters (I hate, because they can be spotted from a mile away)

I was wondering if people can give me some pointers of what they would do.

The First 3 are my shots
(Straight out of the camera, no retouching or post work).

The Fourth was my attempt. (Not so succesful and too dark)

And The last picture. The LEFT side is what I like... but the right isnt bad either and I put it because it looks like it might be a little bit more possible.

(Sorry If I talk to much)

Any Suggestions, Thoughts, Opinions?

Re: Need Some Advice On Achieving A Specific Look

I would start by taking a look at your lighting of the original photo. Your 3 out of the camera originals all have a very flat lighting, (one shows the shadow of your on camera flash) while the example has very directional lighting.

One can always enhance something that is already there, thats easer than trying to add something to nothing.

I think I feel a slight tugging on my leg... as if someone were pulling it... but will answer anyway...

I would use one of these 4 ways

Worked on desaturating the reds, adding a yellowish color cast and exploding the highlights. Not much like your sample, of course.

Re: Need Some Advice On Achieving A Specific Look

heres my try, it doesnt look exactly like it because of the shadow difference, but at added a texture in there just for kicks ^_^

AnabelStars: I have no idea, but a texture to the image didnt even cross my mind.

I Love the feel of it.....
