Lighting Error

I need help with this photo. Just a quick photo I took of some friends at a banquet. Any suggestions on how I might correct this photo? I'm using PS CS3.

Re: Lighting Error

I dropped it into Camera Raw and adjusted color temperature.
Then into Photoshop for more color adjustment and shadow/highlight and noise reduction and contrast and sharpness.

Re: Lighting Error

Used PS7
Levels adjustment
noise reduction (a couple times, using masks to bring back too smooth areas)
selective color adjustments to get rid of a lot of blues and magentas
Painted and cloned out some bright areas
sharpened

Re: Lighting Error

I opted to keep the warm look of the tungsten lighting. Level adjustment to correct colour balance. Gaussian blur of varying intensity on individual colour channels to reduce noise. Selective sharpening.

Re: Lighting Error

I also like the warn look but toned it down a bit. I cloned out the chandelier in the background and blurred the background a little. Cropped for a closer shot and to eliminate distracting background objects.

I used a 50% grey layer with a white paint brush to lighten both faces.

I also ran the image through NeatImage noise reduction, applied low-amount, high-radius contrast enhancement and high-pass filter sharpening.

Re: Lighting Error

most of the noise was in the blue channel so I copied the green channel into the blue and then ran neat image---color correction with curves--desaturated slightly and cloned out distractions

Re: Lighting Error

Cropped, extracted the subjects and placed them on a not-so-busy background, denoised and skin softened, curves to lighten and add contrast, selective sharpening.
