Blotchy color patches on face?

Hey everyone. Here is a link to a cropped portion of an image I am working on. I am having a problem and cannot seem to rid of it using the Dodge & Burn Method, or other standard retouching techniques.

The issue is the cheek and neck... you can see these bluish and pinkish color blotches scattered all over and its making the image look muddy. How do I get rid of the color casting all down the side of the face?

I want to get the color even without destroying the texture. Any advice please!

Re: Blotchy color patches on face?

The blue channel appears to be the noisiest. You could reduce the speckles by applying one of the the other channels to it and re-balancing the overall colour. However, some degree of noise is present in all the channels.

The PS "despeckle" filter does clean it up a bit, but also softens the overall image.

The attached is the result of a single pass with the Grain Surgery 2 plugin. I did nothing else to the image except crop it for easy posting. If you wanted to restrict the effect to the shadow areas you could apply it to a copy layer and then selectively paint in the effect using a black mask.

I posted a technique in the thread below. It might help you spot-correct the problem areas. You may need to use multiple curves layers to target different-colored sections. Good luck!
