How do fake blood with Photoshop?

Hi

Often I have got to use fake blood in my photographs. The blood for cinema is a good solution but sometimes I can not soil the model or costumes.
For this reason I recreate the blood with Photoshop but I am not completely satisfied.

Is there a workflow to create stains of blood?

the shadows and the highlights, the different shades of red, the way drops slide on the skin or spread on clothes, are the most difficult

suggestions?

To be honest, I have no idea. There are lots of tutorials on liquids and droplets for PS, but blood splatter on a person or fabric is very subjective, depending on the existing lighting, skin tone, fabric texture etc. There are lots of spatter brushes on the net and I found this page of tips on bloodwork:

Reading you post gave me the irresistable urge to give it a try myself. Based on red brush strokes on a blank layer, I applied cloud render, layer bevel and emboss, paint and blur, a large spatter brush, smudge tool, liquify bloat tool, various saturation and contrast adjustments.

Hopefully one of the real experts here can help you.

I downloaded some blood brushes awhile back from Obsidian Dawn or elsewhere. A student in my lab needed to do a beat-up version of her own photo and these brushes did the trick.
