fantastic retouch I got this photo from the photo rescue web site. It is a great job. I have played with it and can't come close to the attached results. If anyone can duplicate the results, please show me how. Thanks dbliss

Re: fantastic retouch It is not a true restoration, it is an airbrush/artistic work. And, yes it does require a lot of natural talent... which many of us just cannot duplicate. So, I certainly cannot show you how... sorry, not that talented. But, you can look at many of the works from artists here on RP in other forums to see their work.

Re: fantastic retouch Yes, a very good "artistic impression". ![]() However, as I remember the "photo rescue web site" specifically forbids this type of restoration - if you look at the details various little things have been modified. I, personally, much prefer an artistic approach like this, but it is the client that decides which way you should go. Rô

Re: fantastic retouch Yes, this is an artistic recreation, not a "restoration". For instance, the original shows a sash with gold trim on the gentleman's left shoulder. It is gone in the 'restored' image. Although I would say it is very good, the client should understand that this is what they are going to get before starting. If they are OK with that, then all is good.

Re: fantastic retouch Sometimes when we work on a restoration at OPR we have to use some artistic licence as the photos are very damaged. We strive to make the resto as close to the original as possible, keeping the photographic look as much as we can. Our clients are always thrilled with the work that we do in getting back a precious picture they thought was lost.

Re: fantastic retouch The photo lab I use has a poster in the window describing their 'restoration' service. In one photo, from a side angle, the image is torn and there is no ear visible, but in the 'restoration' the kid has an ear. I always hope that they used other images to figure out what his ears looked like. The examples above are basically illustrations with artistic interpretation and liberties involved.
