| Hello! I've just joined the forum 2 mins ago and would like to say hallo to everybody. I am writing from London and have a really general question: I have just started a new job a as photographer assistant in still life and food photography studio. What would you say are the most desirable retouching skills currently within the industry? I know I won't be able to master all of them within a month or so, so I would like to know your idea of what the best starting point would be. I am quite conversant with CS3, however lacking little bit of speed and proficiency. Thanks, Adi Kordonski |

| Re: Hello! Adi, Welcome ! Within those markets, I would say masking and color management. Color management being rather broad... I mean both your eye for color and being able to correctly manage the color workflow. The photographer usually sets these shots up very nearly perfectly. But, they will often require very slight alterations which are hard for us common folks to see. Same goes for color. And, of course, understanding the print/press process is a must. |
