Re: shadow drives me insane!!

Had a very quick crude play with your picture.

Selected shadow area across dogs head, adjusted levels to brighten, adjusted colour to compensate for colour shift. Cloned out the joins.

Repeated for his shoulder.

Did a less severe adjustment for his under chin area, as it looked unnatural without shadow.

With a bit more time than I've got available you should be able to get a better result.

Re: shadow drives me insane!!

I used some targeted curves, highpass from a blue channel to brig back the texture & a touch of D&B.

Hi Nathalie,

Be sure to post back when you've got your image looking as you want it to.

Good luck, and enjoy yourself.

Re: shadow drives me insane!!

Hello, wow, that's just what I've been trying to do on my photo for a week! I'm having a bit of trouble doing what you did to fix it though. Could you please explain the steps in a bit more detail for someone like me who has very little experience with Photoshop Gary? I would appreciate it very much. Here is my photo--

Re: shadow drives me insane!!

I see that the problem has been basically resolved, but I'll toss my try in the ring.

Mainly curves work could do the job.

Re: shadow drives me insane!!

Here you can find a nice tutorial on this subject, with some exceptions - instead selections I use masking and I take a sample point from the same picture.

Re: shadow drives me insane!!

Hi Miss A,

Sorry I haven't replied to your post, this is the first time I've looked in over the last few days.

Looking at your picture the techniques I used last time would probably not be the ones I'd use on it.

If I get time I'll have a go with your picture and post it back here with a few details of what I did.
