| First D&B attempt... Critiques? I guess this is my first legitimate post. I've been lurking for a while just absorbing the wealth of information. Anyway... below are links to my first D&B (via Soft Light) attempt. I should mention that it is a picture of me. I do realize the pic isn't great from a photographic standpoint (weird lighting and some strange color casts), but I figured it would be a good image to try my hand at skin retouching by D&B. My goal was to avoid taking it "too far" because I didn't want the obviously retouched look. I should also mention that I had a sunburn about a week before the image was taken... and my forehead was peeling.. i didnt put too much effort into fixing it because I didnt feel up to the challenge of spot color correction. My primary concern was skin texture.. **view at full size** http://www.kayemphotography.com/Reto...uch-before.jpg http://www.kayemphotography.com/Reto...ouch-after.jpg http://www.kayemphotography.com/Reto...-softlight.jpg Thanks for taking a look.. I welcome all advice and criticism. -Kayem Last edited by Kayem; 11-24-2008 at 04:43 AM. |

| Re: First D&B attempt... Critiques? Great work! Probably the only thing I would say is that for me, a very natural image like this should be kept as true to the subject as possible. So that means not taking out obvious freckles, smile lines or wrinkles that make the person who they are. I would personally soften some characteristic flaws, but not take them out entirely. There is no need, and for you in particular, you are handsome enough without too much work being done (I assume the model is yourself). So a little less clean up perhaps |
