Where Did My EXTRACTION Filter go?

How can I restore the EXTRACTION filter. When I click on the Extraction option in the drop-down filter menu, nothing happens. Have I inadvertently turned off this filter by accident or will I have to reinstall CS3?

Hi midnitejam,

Some plug-ins have been removed in Photoshop CS4 and the Extract filter is one of them. You can still find that plug-in by looking in your "Goodies" folder on your DVD install disc. Or you can download it from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=4047

Are you in 16bit? The Extract filter only works in 8bit.

I am 8-bit mode and I'm using CS3 (Still saving for CS4)

Oops sorry midnitejam. When you mentioned "reinstalling" CS3, I thought you were using CS4 and may have been considering reinstalling CS3 to get the missing Extract plug-in back :-) Anyway, does Extract show up in the Filter menu but is grayed out, or is it not in the Filter menu at all?

Hi Art,
The extraction filter is present in the menu and is not greyed out. It's click is active, but the extraction screen and tools do not appear when the extraction option is clicked.

Gee, I think I need more sleep. I should have known that Extract was in the Filter menu from reading your first post. Anyway midnitejam, it sounds to me like Photoshop's preference file may be corrupt. You might try resetting the preferences to see if that helps.
