de-aging critique!

hey i was getting some practice at retouching and wanted to make an old woman look very young so here is my try...
btw i just used dodge & burn, healing brush, and a bit of surface blur in 20% opacity just for smoothing a bit.

Re: de-aging critique!

Looks like you got rid of the wrinkles and sags very nicely - but she still has old-woman hair.

Re: de-aging critique!

I like it. It's actually hard to remove so much and end up with good skin texture. Managing to get underlying bone structure to look "young" is also hard.
Good job !

Re: de-aging critique!

Old-woman hair is not just white, it's thin - as in sort of bald.

Re: de-aging critique!

are you referring to the hair on her head or the hair on her face?

Re: de-aging critique!

Hi there..good job but I have a few suggestions.

As you get older things begin to sag...to me I think you need to raise the jowls and nose.

Re: de-aging critique!

I agree with you Lurch. She has thinning white hair, something not likely to be found on a younger woman. I would darken the hair color, but would also add some thickness and length to the hair. Sometimes the best solution is to replace the hair completly. Another approach would be to create a hair brush, and then paint in some new hair.

Re: de-aging critique!

Nicely done! I second... uh, I mean fourth the idea that the hair could be a bit thicker up front. This is quite an impressive retouch.

Re: de-aging critique!

I exaggerated the gif below to identify the areas I was talking about in my first post. Too overdone but you can see what and where I mean.

Re: de-aging critique!

Nice job; she lost a number of years. A larger image always helps to critique though.

Butch
I like the wider cheeks. Younger yes, but face recontruction, no.

Re: de-aging critique!

I think she looks better with a fuller face as well...but I'll bet she looked something like my example 20 years ago then without the cheeks raised. Even with an exaggerated example.

I wasn't reconstructing...but trying to match what she really looked like 20 years in the past.

Everybody's face falls with age sad but so.
