Why not post a sample and let the gurus have at it?

I got it to look a little better, but you have a few problems that are causing issues. It is underexposed about a stop and you are shooting in mixed lighting. When you shoot in mixed lighting there is almost always going to be a cast to the image.

what I did was create a curve adjustment layer in the color blending mode. Added some Cyan and added some Blue to take out the red/yellow cast in her face.

I suggest playing with selective color.

Re: orange orange orange :(

Many, many ways to fix this...

I choose Hue sat in a new layer. Selected reds, then used the dropper to select the skin. Hue: +4 :: Lightness: -15. I agree with ArtIsUgly, definetly underexposed. So I made a brightness and contrast layer @ brightness: +65.

You may want to calibrate your brightness and blacks on your monitor. The outfit is blacked out... plus the underexposure

lovely girl though...

Hope this helps,
-Keven

Re: orange orange orange :(

I used a curves adjustment layer in photoshop to lighten up the image and then a color balance adjustment layer I adjusted the color

Re: orange orange orange :(

Garibaldi means correct in Lab color space. Image>> mode>> lab color

It is the simplest of all the color spaces and basically works like a white balance corrector. It can fix color balance problems quickly and probably the best place to fix brightness and contrast. Just be sure to change back to RGB color, as LAB only has simple editing available.

But this wont correct specificly the skin unless you mask only the skin, otherwise the color balance is global.

Re: orange orange orange :(

Foz,

You're getting some good info here in this post, but (as normal), i'm going to second igot2peeman's insight: If you don't mask out just the skin, the photo is going to continue to look "off." First and foremost, create yourself a nice mask (using quickmask), and THEN start making changes. This will help 10 fold.
