i know they used D&B technique and some kind of lightning, but i dont know,
it has a feeling like an illustration but yet photo and the skin looks perfect but not too fake.

Re: How to retouch like this!

What specifically do you want to know? I see regular skin retouching, some D&B to add depth to both the skin and fabrics, a fake background, and most likely some fake fruit(later added in).

Re: How to retouch like this!

I see, your right, the eyes are white but not very fake looking. It looks like after he whitens them, he shades the corners to add depth. It also appears that its not just a stark white, for the white girl it has a slight hint of gray.

Re: How to retouch like this!

I think that style is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy overcooked. Look at it like this, if you were waling down the street and either one of those chicks walked up to you, appearing exaclty what they look like in the image, what would your reaction be? I mean really, picture a anemic, plastic, wrinkless, veinless, white eyeballed, white toothed alien walking up to you and askingif you wanted a strawberry! LOL

Such is the way we are taught beauty is.

Of course I keep in the ruling that beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.

Re: How to retouch like this!

I think part of the reason the white eyes look ok is the way we percieve color. Without anything else in the photo for our eyes to compare it to our brain interpets it the way it think's it should be.

If the background were of an everyday nature and we had somthing to compare the color to it would come off as looking odd.

This is not based on fact it's based on theory therfore it's open to debate. But It's a theory i have come to believe bears some credability.

i would think it's a vampire! lol haha that happens when you read the stephenie mayer books... well back to the topic, i know that no one is perfect, and i think natural beauty is great, but almost all the time clients ask me to do that kind of retouch for them, they want to look like if they went out of a fashion ad LOL...

Re: How to retouch like this!

It's stylized. It'd be a little freaky to see a manga chick walking down the street at you as well, but it works for the manga because it's a specific stylized form. I doubt they were going for realism in these shots.

Re: How to retouch like this!

i like the style too.
i dont think it looks very real but i like the shadows and highlights on the skin the most. they should add a bit more texture in to the skin i think though.

does anyone actually know how to achieve this look using photoshop?
like
step
by
step?

Re: How to retouch like this!

that link still contains the trojan on the second page
in future 0lbaldy
could you not post links with viruses on them please

so, the main objective is to make the shadows darker and retain the highlights?

Re: How to retouch like this!

The trojan is still there on the first page of the site. From what I can figure out, is it is a dialer-not good. Either the site is doing this(I don't think so) or the site has been hacked. Untill the site figures out how it was hacked, it will be unsafe to go there.

Re: How to retouch like this!

The 5 different methods to achieve the Amy Dresser Look Tutorial has been ripped, cleaned and put into a PDF? @:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/wzmxmaztuj2/Amy Dresser Tutorial.pdf
It really does need the rollover to see the very subtle differences but I guess you could put the pics on separate layers and click em on and off if you need to visualize it

For those interested in how Amy Dresser does her thing as explained by her... There is a brief explanation from Amy... archived in this post @ RetouchPRO. There is also a sample PSD file there showing her layers and work flow.
(If you download it, Pay particular attention to the "Carve" Layer.. (Excellent example of pains taking D&B on a gray layer))
