Little help please Hi people, I have recently taken some images of my new Nephew and whilst it was a learning experiance, I managed to get some good shots. With the shot below, I really like the look he has going on, but unfortunatly as you can see I blew the lighting on the fluffy white thing within the shot. Does anyone know of a technique I can use to rescue this image to make it in to something suitable? http://www.adam.com.au/jdthomas/Phot...s/_IGP0816.jpg Cheers John

Re: Little help please You can try with color brush and the color picker to paint the burn out. But remind you in the blew out spots all the details are lost from the pic.

Re: Little help please Hi Funkhead, something like this? Added a curve adjustment and darkened, inverted layer mask (hide all) and painted with a soft white brush with about 20% opacity on the blown out areas to tone them down. Cute Pic btw

Re: Little help please Hi John, Welcome to RetouchPRO What software are you using? Precious Baby! Nice Photography! Had to have a go... I use PS 7 and did about the same as Amica except prior to using the curves layer I patched the bright spots after cloning the edges with a darker area so the patches would blend better also patched the cheek and cloned the bright areas on the nose Brightened the eye highlights and Iris then darkened the pupil to make the eyes POP

Re: Little help please OB you've asked for it.. :-) John, hope you don't mind, as I realized that this wasn't asked in your request... Cloned the light lines on the nostrils, some dodging and burning on the cheek and forehead, highpass/hard light on eyes, vignetting...

Re: Little help please John, Everyone has given you good ideas. I thought I would throw one more out. Often when I work with baby pictures in b&w, I redirect the light some and add just a hint of color to inanimate objects, usually pink or yellow work best. Here is a quick example using your image. Used a soft spot from 2 o'clock and added just a little yellow to the blanket. Again, just a thought.
