Removing a Shadow from a Face?

Any one have some cool tricks for removing a shadow from a face that gives great results. I tried Dodge and burn and cloning it became such a pain I just used another image. Looking for any tutorials and tips people may have on the subject I could review and see if I could do better next time.

Julian...>>>cloning it became such a pain...

There is no magic bullet to good retouching. Cloning, as tedious as it is, is part of the process. Done well, it's what separates the top end retouchers from the rank amateurs.

That said, I know my personal limits. I don't like tedious work, so I don't retouch. LOL

It depends from shadow by shadow but all is in time you put in it. Try with curves or selective level adjustment and layer masks but best of all clone, color correction and all of this...it takes time...

Yep I know I was under a time crunch and tedious can equal time which I didn't have much of so went with another image. Still love to find a magic bullet lol or filter trick .

Re: Removing a Shadow from a Face?

Maybe clone stamp tool set to lighten at low opacity, if the shadow is a consistent tone throughout it should work. The tone is uneven then try the same thing, stop when the lightest shadow tone is equal to the non shadowy bit, and then dodge darker pixels to get an even tonality. Thats what I would do, there are probably better techniques out there thou.
