"moveable" gradient

I saw in a tutorial how you could make the gradient sort of loose, where it isn`t limited to the size of the canvas, so you can move it anywhere you want it in the picture.

Can anyone refresh my mind on how to do this, I forgot :-?

While you are adding a gradient fill adjustment layer, you can simply drag in the image window to reposition the gradient.

Tried that, but its still stuck, i used new adjustment layer>gradient. Can't move it. Anything I forgot to check off?

(Using Photoshop CS3)

Not sure what you did. You must drag IN your image while the gradient fill dialog is OPEN. If you click "OK", the dialog will close and the gradient will be set, not movable -- unless you re-open the dialog.
