Exclamation Howwwwwwwwww??????????

how does the retoucher achieve this look?

obviously lighting and the actual picture affects the final result, but is there anyway to achieve this look without taking a new picture? (eg. using a picture that has already been taken?)

it sort of looks metallic and yellow and like a layer desurated set to overlay.

adjustments masks?
blending modes?

please help. i will be forever greatful

Re: Howwwwwwwwww??????????

My first attempt at bring the same sort of look and feel.

Image 1 H&S Colorized, desat H&S and a Z curves layer, masked some skin to bring in some of the original tones.

Image 2 I did a colour match to the original one you posted.

Re: Howwwwwwwwww??????????

I decreased the contrast, decreased the saturation, and added a yellow photo filter. All of this with adjustment layers so I could dial in various adjustments.

Re: Howwwwwwwwww??????????

  1. B&W (Color) at 50% opacity
  2. Curves (darken) to block hilights and show shadows
  3. D&B (softlight) to show more of the shirt and recover some of the hilights
  4. Color balance (darken color) S: YB +20, M: YB -50, H: YB -35
  5. Dupicate Color balance and change blending mode to darken

Just my take on it. Its simple enough, I made it into an action.

*Things in() are blending modes

Hope this helps,
-Keven
