Hi,

I am looking for the best Grain Adder plugin.
Unfortunately Grain Surgery - is no longer available.
What are your recommendations?
I have Alien Skin Exposure - but I am not happy with it.

or maybe somebody know about stock with scanned grains from various negatives/positives films???

Re: Adding Grain

Well what I do to add grain using photoshop is to add a new layer as a clipping mask and set the blend mode of that to overlay. Fill the layer with 50% Grey and to that layer add noise. You can dial in what you want you can add a layer mask to that layer and also control the layer opacity.

Re: Adding Grain

Normally its just slightly blurred noise that is used, by varying the strength of your noise (normally anything from 2% up to 15% for some more 'grainy' types) and the type and intensity of blur. Blended with Overay and Soft Light, this will give you as many different types of grain that you need.

Alien skin make a plug-in called Exposure. Ignore all the color stuff in there because that can be better done in Photoshop, but it does do a fairly Ok job of simulating film grain.
