how to create this color cast ?

Looking for some help to re-create the following look. I am wondering what is the best way to create the color cast below. I have tried various methods to reduce the red but without much success. In addition to the color cast, it looks like the photo has been sharpen (hair). Perhaps a little overall contrast adjustment as well?

I would duplicate the layer, select duotones (blue), then add a layer mask and paint back what you don't want to be blue. You can also adjust the opacity for effect.

and what about to push white-balance towards blue aka coolder light....

There are many ways to do something like this... To mee it looked more like a green cast then a blue.

I think it was done as Cli stated then punched greens in Curves set to color blending mode.

So if you see below the green curves layer removes the green cast. So to add it, you must do an equal opposite reaction in the other direction. You can do WB adj for the blue or do the opisite of the blue curve below.

You are actually correct, Desaturating the reds with curves will bring more green and light blue. Its basically the opposite of what I posed (saturate greens, and blues[slightly]). Yours seems simpler; therefore, logic would say your version is the original way of doing it. Not to mention the good read of the histogram.
