Feathering & Vignetting

Instead of using the feather setting on your selection, select your desired area, invert your selection and then switch to Quick Mask. Use a gaussian blur on the mask. The feathering you see will be the feathering you'll get on your final copy or cut or whatever you're doing.

WYSIWYG edge feathering!
