datamoshing i dunno if u saw the latest music video of kanye west, welcome to heartbreak, but theres a technic calld datamoshing used in it. basically it's playing with some compression from the video to get some fked up pixels and others effects. mostly random its seems to be. when u'll check it out the vidz its like when you tried to play some videos on windows media player and u didnt have codecs, u know what i mean? check this out : http://www.fubiz.net/2009/02/20/kany...to-heartbreak/ the video is in hd below the question is: how to do this in pictures? maybe resize the picture a lot smaller, then resize it back like it used to, and copy that 'bad quality layer' on the top of the picture with low opacity or something with some moves etc. i really dunno. but i'm really looking forward to this. i think we gonna see that kind of effects really often soon! ez g have a good day http://flickr.com/gkayacan

Re: datamoshing I think maybe they meant to put the link under that?? When you click the link, the vid they are talking about is underneath a picture, maybe they meant that?? LOL I have no idea to do that effect on a still image, but it is a very interesting technique!!

Re: datamoshing For the bright colors over body and head it looks like the same image was composited, but flipped for right/left sides.

Re: datamoshing you get that effect when you test compression algorithms to upload videos on the net. particularly when you use a heavy compression. then it's easy to compose it in after effects for exemple, and emphazise the effect scaling up the image... i guess.

Re: datamoshing It's interesting that the shirt and head are offset by different amounts, leaving the tinted shirts headless and the tinted heads in the profile silhouette.
