Help with very old, very small photo

I've never posted here, but finding this old photo and having messed with it for several days in CS4, about the only thing I've come up with is some blur, clone and heal and a contrast, and it still doesn't give much back.
Wondering if I should walk away from this one?

You may have gotten more answers in the restoration forum. You could always ping a moderator to move the thread in tact.

Well, I wouldn't give up on it. While it may never look crisp, it will certainly look like a very unique and old photo. I would just clean it up some.

Our thumbnail doesn't clean up very well due to the jpeg artifacts. However, here is a very quick example of where you could take it. Just a quick apply image to multiply the red channel. Then some selective healing, cloning, and a little dodge & burn. Again, very fast, like 5 minutes.

Best of luck !

Thanks TommyO, that is what I thought, but just wasn't quite sure. I hadn;t tried this work around, will do it this morning. This is a very unique little photo, hand embossed edge and all.
Thanks again

OK TommyO, or anyone else, How do I get ahold of a moderator to move this post to the correct forum. Tried to get it into the restoration, but it didn't quite work. Advice needed,
Thanks penegway
