getting rid of pink hair streaks! I took some photos on the week-end and need to get rid of her very bright pink hair streaks. Any ideas on how I can do that? I've tried masking the selection and in that layer overlaying in color mode, but it just turns it a strange purple-y color. I'm uploading a photo. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Re: getting rid of pink hair streaks! I used the replace color brush. It is found where the brush tool resides.

I have to say it looks better on my desktop. Somehow the color becomes more saturated and red in the forum window. |

Re: getting rid of pink hair streaks! I used a layer set to color mode then painted over the red...BUT if you want that deeper look you need to also change the luminosity. Butch

Re: getting rid of pink hair streaks! duplicate layer make a selection around the hair feather by three pixels open image>adjustments>selective colour click on the red and magenta filters change the red and surrounding areas to a bluish colour by adjusting the sliders click ok select a dark yellow colour for the colour palette (brownish dark yellow) change the brush settings to colour, feathery brush, leave opacity at 100. with the hair still selected use the brush to change the whole selection to the brown deselect the area (ctrl+d) duplicate the layer make the brush smaller to clean up areas of brown on the skin face etc. by selecting colours around the area you need to clean up and painting over the brown (with the brush still set to colour mode) i then selected the light area of the fringe feathered the selection by six pixels opened levels (ctrl+l) made the midtones darker then i got the burn tool big feathery brush exposure set to approximately 23 and burnt selected areas that i felt needed darkening then i selected the whole area of the hair again and adjusted levels to my liking (i upped the highlights a tad and then i lowered the midtones again) with the hair still selected i opened hue and sat (ctrl+u) because i felt that the hair looked too yellow/green so i made it a tiny bit redder the last step i did was got the dodge tool, set the exposure to six, made the brush fairly small and i just added highlights where i thought necessary so the hair didnt look as "flat". i hope i explained my work procedure fairly easily so that you can replicate it. ill attach my attempt.
