plz help

hi i am new to retouch pro can enyone help with this 28 year old photo plz. my mum has had it hanging on the wall all that time as you can see it has faded over time i have tryed myself to fix it with no luck as i am new to photoshop 3 i would be greatful if u can help to restore it plz. it is a photo of myself,wife and my little princess it was taken at her chrisneing.

Hi, and welcome. If you are using photoshop I would try the auto lvls command. I tried it and it did a nice job. The color is still decent where the frame was covering the photo. If someone spent some time they could recolor this photo or you could just have a nice black and white. If you want to take the time and learn, bring up the curves dialouge box and just tear in and start moving sliders. Youcan't hurt your picture as long as you don't save. You can find some good tutorials here on Retouchpro too.

Hope you don't mind, but I did a quick recolour using this technique

You could spend some time and do better as I could only guess the colours.
(Apart from the plaque on the wall...I remember them )

thanks for all your help liked what you did so i had a go for myself .
i had a look around this forum got lots of help with photoshop 3 i am just new to all this what do you think

billkouk, I don't believe ur new. lol
Great job. One sugestion; you didn't do anything at all to the teeth and they are still looking bw. I would color them with and off white that leans toward yellow.
