Hi people from the best forum I've ever seen)) So, here is before: http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/775/beforee.jpg Here is after: http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3433/64591544.jpg I did a many-hours-DB-work with pores.. But where should I put shadow/hightlight to emphasize her features? It always puzzles me. I wish I was a bit make-up artist.. I'd like to see some instructions/desctiptions/attemps on my photo. Hope you'll help me. Thx! |

| Re: Need a help with features. Where to put shadow Paint where you want it to go then gaussen blur with about 20px. Re do some of the finer details (lips). I used two curves layers, as if you make a mistake it is easyer to fix. You can go HERE for more of a map on where to apply. Hope it helps, -Keven *Pictures Screenshoot -- Original -- Edit Last edited by igot2pman; 04-01-2009 at 09:39 AM. |

| Re: Need a help with features. Where to put shadow I too find it hard to know exactly where to put shadows and such. So I usually add to whats already there, to get a boost in contrast. Most noticable her nose in this example. I used a empty Overlay layer and painted with white or black to add or diminish contrast. |

| Re: Need a help with features. Where to put shadow really thx everyone.. Keven, thx for link and attachment...really helpfull. In fact, that's what I was looking for. Pelle Piano, actually, your result I like most at all (just I would go for less highlight on her forehead) It would be great to look at your workflow.. (psd if it's possible).. Aleksman, You have changed picture a lot. Nice. What did u do with eye's shadow? I mean about color..what was ur way to get that? )) p.s. need learn english grammar (( |

| Re: Need a help with features. Where to put shadow I used the same approach as igot2pman but use a empty layer set to Overlay. Only difference is where the painting is applied. I did not save the .fla The hard part is where and how much you should apply. I often overdo it, but trying to hold back. |

| Re: Need a help with features. Where to put shadow oke, thx, I'm doing it now...i'll show the result later.. But my method is to use 2 layers of original image with black mask...1st layer lighted by curve, 2nd darked by curve, 1st is for dodge 2nd is for burn is it the same?) and if it's not what the difference?) |

Other than the basics, a lot of it becomes a subjective thing. I'm don't think that there is a 'standard routine' to get to the 'look'. For me, unless I have the freedom to do as I wish, it's all up to the subject. With yours, it's her eyes that intrigue me so .... - I did the 'usual' to clear up a few of the obvious blemishes using the clone tool, healing brush, etc as well as smoothed her skin a bit, just to a point where her skin texture is still visible - saturated her eyes with the sponge tool then dodged to highlight - selective color adjustment to remove some red from her skin color - to further draw my attention to her eyes, I placed an empty layer over top, set the blend mode to lighten, with a soft brush set at a very low opacity sampled the lighter skin color and gradually painted where I wanted to lighten. To darken any areas, do the same with the blend mode changed to darken. This is the method that I used to decrease the skin glare. In each instance, the adjustments were made to either a duplicate or separate layer so that any over-effect can be masked or a change in the blend mode does not effect the layer below. Check out Action Central for some great actions that may help. Chip Springer's Paint With Light here, http://www.atncentral.com/image_enhance.htmmay is another method of D & B. |
