Advanced B&W Conversion: Action Set, .PDF, and Vid

I've upgraded the TLR Split Channels action set. It does a lot of the grunt work for advnced B&W conversion using the channels from color and grayscale photographs.

Take a color photo and you get up to ten layers and ten alpha channels with the infromation from RGB channels, CMYK channels, the L*a*b Lightness channel, the Grayscale Gray channel, and even a Desaturate layer. You can then selectively blend features from the different channels, using different layer blends, different opacities, etc. for extreme control over B&W conversion.

I also created two brief videos: one describes the features of the action set and the other demonstrates how to take a colorful photograph and make a B&W image worthy of fine art printing.

Re: Advanced B&W Conversion: Action Set, .PDF, and

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm in the process of making brief videos for each of my action sets.

The utility of the TLR Split Channels isn't so obvious until someone actually sees it in use. In theory, it sounds like a lot of work. But, as you can see from the videos, you can use it in just a few minutes.

I certainly don't use it for every photograph because it is more work than a LR or ACR preset, etc. (I love being able to hover over a photo in ACR/LR and using my thumb to tweak B&W conversion.) But there are photos that can really benefit from the technique.

Cheers,

Mitch

Great action, not just for B&W conversion, but for masking and selecting in general this rocks.
