Re: Blue Photos

The imbalance is all over the image and it's different across the tonal range. I used 4 color curves in lab, each targeted to a different range with Blend if sliders. That added a sufficient amount of yellow to offset the blue cast. Painted white into a color layer to eliminate the blue fringing that the curves missed (there's still some of that. This is rough). Then tweaked back in RGB with selective color, adding magenta to yellow and cyan to red. Lightened the shadows too.

It's not great, by any means, but now you have an image that you can attack with normal measures: curves, or whatever your preference might be.

When your image is this badly whacked, you just keep trying stuff until you find combinations that work. There is no one step solution to something like this.

Re: Blue Photos

My very amateurish attempt, hopefully someone who knows what they are doing will come along with the right way of doing things

i used a red layer reducing opacity, then a curves adjustment layer but not surprising i couldn't get rid of all the blue

Re: Blue Photos

I dropped the image into Camera Raw and adjusted the color temperature and
took down the blue some more with the hsl sliders.

Re: Blue Photos

Excellent result, Wolfman.

Here's another way...

On dup layer, begin by making simple midtone curves corrections to each color channel (lighten red and green, darken blue). Then in a H/S adjustment layer, considerably reduce saturation of both blues and cyans (this makes the biggest change). Follow with more adj layers: curves (for sat and contrast) and selective color (fine tuning) adjustments to taste.
