Re: Making photos look old (authentically)

winu: as far as i can tell, that page desaturates, fades the white and black point, adds noise on everything and then blend a worn texture on top. The last step I can't really include in my actions tho. But I might change how I fade the image a little bit.

I haven't tried these, but they might have possibilities.

Thumbs up Re: Making photos look old (authentically)

dkcoats: Those texture look awesome! Good resolution, free for personal and commercial use, AND they are from genuine old photographs. *downloads*

I will definitely recommend using those with my action set

Anyway, here is an update!
- Another action for very fine noise (for low resolution images).
- Tweaked the age fade and random fade actions.
- 3 new easy "all-in-one" actions that does everything for you quickly (but without any manual control).

I sense the final version is drawing near...

Edit:
- added: "Paper fibers (not for lowres images)" (rough pastels)
- changed blending of "1850-1890 (lavender)"

Re: Making photos look old (authentically)

This action is awesome. Sure cuts down on my post processing time. I like going to historical areas and shooting them and then replicate the look from its time period. This action takes a three hour task and cuts it down to 15 minutes. About the only thing I do for the daguerrotypes is adding the orange tinted chemical blots on the edges. This is spot on. Thanks for sharing. Glad I found this site and this action. After I get some more of the CW Reenactment images processed, I will give you the site to go and see some results of your action.

Flotsam: I looked at your action, and i liked it. I think I will steal your technique for the cracks and stains and add them to my action set if you don't mind.

Exclamation Re: Making photos look old (authentically)

Ok. I consider the first version of the action set complete. I have removed the "old" versions from this thread.

Final version can be downloaded here

Enjoy
