align a new layer

Hello Folks!
could you explain me how to align the new layer with the image I'm working with when I transfer the layer from a different but same image (or an other similar frame of the same model, for instance). Example, if I wanted to transfer an hand from another frame, can I align it automatically? Thanks in advance.

You can also make a selection in the destination layer. Then select what you want to copy from the source layer, Edit > Copy, then go to the source layer and Edit > Paste Into. This will paste your copied object into the area that has the selection only. If that object is larger than the selected area you can use te move tool to drag it around.

Another quick way, provided the pasted image is the same size, is too temporarily change the blend mode to difference. Move the pasted image so it goes completely black. Then change the mode back to normal.
