Bird inquiry ?

These where taken as a experiment to see if i could get closer to the birds and the nest
I was sat in my greenhouse ( so they are taken through glass) It was raining and the light was not great to say the least
I used the museum setting on the camera ( as you can tell very technical but it does say for taking through glass and no noise as in beeping )

Any way this is a out of interest as i hope to be able to take some more soon when the weather is better ( and the baby's will be leaving the nest soon) can they be improved ?

I tried to find the black and white point but i personally did not like it, ( i do tend to like more colourful but i can artify them for that ) and i also tried neat image for the noise

Re: Bird inquiry ?

hello,
here is my try. i wanted to get good colors and save the details at the same time.
1. ->LAB and curves to enhance the colors
2. ->RGB and curves to make the black of the head more neutral
3. unsharp mask on some parts for more details
kind regards.

Re: Bird inquiry ?

thank you Ol Baldy for the work done and the screen shot

Two things

firstly i have tried to do the same and liked the outcome a lot better than the one i had tried

secondly
Any idea on why my markers would be in different places than yours ? (I tried it on the small version and my original )
could it be the different monitors ?

Hello shotcutz (and welcome) thank you also for your work i hadnt thought of using lab although i have forgotten how to use it i think ! !
And you are right the head is black ( great tit) and not blue (blue tit)

You're welcome
The screen shot is the actual screen used when I did the levels... I only wanted to level the bird so I blew it up to 200% and the bird was all that was in my window... that may account for the differences

Re: Bird inquiry ?

opened with acr made adjustments/made new layer filled with 50% gray in overlay mode and painted with white brush on highlights/did a highpass sharpen with soft light.added blue background..........as far as levels you can open threshold and slide all the way left until all white , move back right just until you see some black, click ok and use color sampler tool and click on black spot. re open threshold and slide all the way right until all black and then move back left until you see some white and click ok and click on white spot. then trash threshold layer, only used to find black and white points. open a levels layer and use black point eye dropper on black point and white eye dropper on white point. this will give you true black and white points.
