Re: How can i acheve this color???

The images look like the K channel is missing when working in CMYK. I would start there by perhaps removing the K channel and then use channel mixer to pump cyan into the black as needed. The highlights also look like thay have been flooded with magenta and yellow as flat tints. I would do that in curves by pushing up your highlight in each to 10-25% depending on the effect you're looking for. cheers

Re: How can i acheve this color???

All these effects can be done by photoshop if the photos are good enough to start with.
Really i can't do many effects as i saw here, but i can see that i may do something closer, and if i have the original good exposed and correct colors photos then getting different effects is just a game of Photoshop or similar retouching software.

Re: How can i acheve this color???

I think ray.mac has a pretty good solution or at least starting approach to the effect here. I've messed a bit with turning off the K channel myself with interesting results. It may also be a cross-processing treatment from a plug-in like Alien Skin Exposure.
This is a bit off the subject, but as much as I love the color treatment, is there something seriously wrong with the model's left (viewer's right) leg in the first photo? It may be partially hidden by the other leg, but the dividing line doesn't really make it look that way. Anybody else notice?

Re: How can i acheve this color???

Some of the purple look and the blue shadow stuff can be done with a curves adjustment layer by moving the blue and red curves to the left or right of their normal positions. You can localize where this color is in the image by attaching a mask on the layer and selectively painting the effect and the color change you just created...and make it go anywhere with complete creative artistic control.

Re: How can i acheve this color???

start with a bright image with not too much saturation.

i usually duplicate image, Black and white it, then set it to screen and lower layer opacity to taste.

use a dusty blue (or just eyedrop the blue from those pics), and set the layer to exclusion, lower opacity to taste.

few dark dusty blue colors to try out:
#00122C
#000025 (subtle effect)
#010158 (stronger effect)

if u go towards cyan the overall color will be more orange
if you go towards purple the overall color will be more green
so finding a good shade of blue takes a little bit of practice.

what i ususally do is pick a blue that works somewhat close to what im going for, then use hue/saturation to change the shade of blue that will look closer to ivory/yellow

then use selective color to pop out the other colors in the image.

than use curves or anything else that might need to be adjusted as this technique varies from photo to photo

Re: How can i achieve this color???

I think that similar effect can be achieved by using the Selective Color tool as well. You can try playing with it and replace the blacks with other color. It works pretty well I think.

Re: How can i achieve this color???

rogier,
make new empty layer above your photo
flood-fill with a dark blue color
set the layer to exclusion
reduce the layer opacity depending on the photo, some will need a stronger opacity than others

few dark dusty blue colors to try out:
#00122C
#000025 (subtle effect)
#010158 (stronger effect)

i would probably use the stronger one, and lower the opacity

There are tons of free photoshop action scripts to do cross process in Deviant Art website. You should check it out.

Re: How can i achieve this color???

I think you can use a gradient map adjustment layer with a very low opacity (put it on color mode if you want too), this way you can "easily" achieve this color and mood.

Then you can use a selective color layer to play with a little bit more.

Re: How can i achieve this color???

I would usually use a gradient map for this kinda technique, I can also see the benefits of converting to CMYK and messing with the black channel.

I created an action that gives a colour cast to images, it applies a hue/sat layer to your midtones but keeps your original high sat colours in tact. You do need to have the TK luminosity masks and the TLR saturation masks installed however. The action is called "Q's Colour Cast, I can't save this out as a single action, so you'll have to download and install my full set of retouching actions, which comes in at a whopping 142kb -

Cheers and enjoy.
