color correction question

this may be a basic question for most people but I am looking for more details or other techniques than what I currently use.
I have items like clothing and products to color correct to other colors.
Like a shirt was shot in blue but needs to also be red, black, etc.
Sometimes a specific color # is given.
I usually make a pen selection or color range selection of the original item and with a hue saturation adjustment, click colorize (with the target color in the foreground). then adjust from there.
is there a more accurate way. I haven't had good results with relpace color or the color replacement tool. unless i am doing something wrong.

Re: color correction question

Have you tried Image>Adjust>Gradient Map? Or add a Gradient Map Adjustment layer which will give you the additional flexibility to use blend modes or selectively mask the changes.

I second that suggestion. Gradient maps will help dial in the subtle hue and saturation shifts that make a color-changed object look less apparent.

Re: color correction question

gradient map did a nice job. i had to do a quick read on it. i set the beginning and end points as the color i needed and it looked good. better than hue/saturation.
Thank you both so much!
