Need cloning help

I've been struggling with this image. I removed the log, but no matter what I do I can't get the water to look right in that area.
I'd appreciate any ideas.

Re: Need cloning help

Pasting little pieces of water from like-textured places to cover the log might work better.

Re: Need cloning help

Try using the patch tool instead of the cloning tool. It does a much better job of retaining texture.

I did it, but want to make it better. That's why I'm asking for ideas.

Re: Need cloning help

Try to use the high pass filter to buildup the texture.

Re: Need cloning help

Is this more what you are trying to do?

First I used the crop tool to expand the canvas so I had some extra room to work. Then I copied some sections of the water on the left, to the right, and positioned and rotated them as needed until they looked about right. This is why I expanded the canvas. You want your new sections to hang out farther than the original. Next, I used the heal tool to blend the new sections back in with the original. By having extra area too work with, I did not have to worry about blending the edges. Once it looks acceptable, crop the image back to the original size again. I did this whole thing in about 10 minutes.
