how was it done? (craig mcdean's photos)

hello!

i'm still new here and a beginner so please excuse me if i may say anything wrong.
here are images from vogue which i've seen months ago and it still bothers me: how was it done? some desat., then tweaking vibrancy, selective color? but what about the rest?
photos by craig mcdean, no idea who retouched them (box, perhaps?). i guess it can be a copyright issue if i attach them so here is a link on the web.

click forward to see the whole series and don't forget to click on the image, they become bigger

greetings,
jeen

It's hard to tell what has been done to this images. There is a high possibility that besides a simple color correction and a slight desaturation there is only good photography and not postproduction that makes them that good.

I think i looks selectively hand colored. The stains on the background makes one think of watercolor.
