the background is flashing!

Hello Folks, please have a look at this picture. I shoot with Canon, 21 Mb + sensor, than I opened in PS 16 bits depth , I did some 'light' alteration, like a 30% overlay for more contrast, a little bit levels to darken black...and the background is...flashing....! I mean I didn't an heavy alteration...! I'm I right? Any suggestion to give me? Thanks in advance. Paolo.

ps besides enjoy your Sunday...!

Here's the picture, sorry!

I had to cover the model for authorization reason.

Re: the background is flashing!

My question is: there's a way to avoid 'flashing' on the background considering my shooting, my process, my treatment? Thanks.

Re: the background is flashing!

yea but what are you referring to by flashing? having the flash from the strobe hit it? having it break up in the gradient from when you push the file too far? flashing from a out of gamut warnign from incoorect exposure? Flashing like when some pervert comes up to you in a trench coat and opens it to show you his goods?

Re: the background is flashing!

Did you heighten background unevenness through your editing. Is that it?

Re: the background is flashing!

I think he means "banding".

Do the brunt of your editing on the RAW file, like in Aperture, Camera Raw, Lightroom, etc.

If that fails, you might need to add a small amount of noise to the background before making your edits.

Re: the background is flashing!

'Flashing' means nothing.

If you do mean banding, get your monitor calibrated, there's no severe banding on that background. if you mean the graduated light then you need a backlight.
