Re: Official "The Look" Thread

These guys got the actions from Tony for sure and just re packaged them.
I agree, give credit where credit is due!
Alos there is no "Look" it also another re-pakcaged name for Dave Hill effect as many here call it. Although "we" know Dave Hill never came up with anything. Just some how through forums he has been named the inventor of the "look".
Calvin just feels bad that people say he is copying so he invented the look.
I noticed Calvin getting ants in his pants when ask to do the Dave Hill "look" and he kept saying he is not copying. That is when he named it the "look"..
Again like Calvin also say, there is no look or trick.
It is Adding contrast which is easy enough with a B&W on a softlight layer. Then some Lucis or Niks and then some smoothing and then a little D&B. No trick.
And if you like what Mtmm was doing then do the High Pass Bleach step instead of the Tone contrast and there you have it.
Snook

Nothing new and no tricks involved.

Well said! I created this "look" thread for people to pop off whatever they can create off of the "look" that is out there. With a good camera, good light, B&W + Softlight layer then you have a good look.

Re: Official "The Look" Thread

@Snook
I do not copy anybody.
Some years ago i try to copy someones style. I think at the beginning its very good to copy someone. Then you can learn faster.
I tried to copy Bill Simone. Never Dave Hill or somebody else. But thats long time ago.
So please do not write about me, or how i feel when you dont know it.
Thank you

lg Calvin

Re: Official "The Look" Thread

@snook
the babyshot was NOT my shot.
A other photohrapher did that pic.
My job was to create a greenberg-like "look".
Thats a big diffrence.
It was not a work for myself

Re: Official "The Look" Thread

Cypisek, usually the idea behing 2 flashes is 2 from behind the subject to rim the out.
Usually up to 1 stop more power from the back sides. then another frontal.
Here is seems, I could be wrong, that you have all three lights from more or less the front of the motorcycle and guy.?
Does not look bad at all but would be more interesting if you had the 2 or atleast one from behind and to the side to give the "rim" effect.

I am in experiment phase now
All you gotta do now with this one is shoot the background separate on a tripod with dynamic lighting, and then jump in and change the lighting for you, and shoot you on the tripod, and bam you have a cool image.

Im bored with life, hows everyone doing?

Well since I haven't posted anything in awhile, I took this last night, not the best imo but whatever works, my white background wasn't ironed and not illuminated too well, because I only had one background light available, so I had to do some curves and level adjustments to make it white as I could without blowing out the subject. I could of done better, but I will do something more soon.

I need to start taking some background shots out there so i can do some composites.
