Got it! thanks much, plus, I realized that the instructions vary slightly when working in 16 bit, like I always do.

Thumbs up Re: Official "The Look" Thread

Following skilove73 pointers, I have edited the following image. I seem to understand the freq separation procedure but still working on the Luminosity Mask steps. Thanks, skilove73.

PS. I realized that I didn't have proper authorization from the model to post these images; I will do the same procedure with another model and post. Sorry!

Re: Official "The Look" Thread

you duplicate the background
apply smart sharpen on the layer
duplicate the layer
set the first one on lighten
the top one on darken
play with opacity.
another method with the edges :
duplicate background
apply smart sharpen on the layer
go to the channel palet, choose the desire channel ctrl click to load it
click on the mask icon.
then alt click on the mask to see it
go to fliter stylize, find edges
apply a level adjustement for more accurate edges
run a gaussian blur and invert the mask.
regards

Hey skilove I sent you a private message, but I am not sure if you received it or not, you may have like 3 messages from me, it says I have nothing sent, but I did send you them.

Re: Official "The Look" Thread

to fadewoodarts
olaf has a new technique to bring out details
duplicate twice the background
on the top layer : invert, set to vivid light
then, filter, blur, surface blur (thresold to the max, radius from 0, play with it)
then run a gaussian blur to your taste.
merge down (ctrl E)
set the blending to overlay or soft light.
Calvin described a little further the ACR settings is using in this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr12ZfPK2co
in the second part (the black and white ACR)
don't push too far the clarity for halos (not more than 40)
play with the color cursor for luminosity.
regards
