New lurker; How to achieve this look?

Hey, I've been lurking around for a while and finally decided to register.

This one doesn't look too hard, but there's something about this photo that I can't seem to pull off: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...2/BBM31600.jpg

This is what I have been able to achieve so far:

There's something I'm missing, but I can't seem to pinpoint what it is.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Re: New lurker; How to achieve this look?

Hey there,
So the things I noticed that you could do to make yours look more like that example are:

1. Add more detail in your darks. Look at the grilles in the example, you can see clear shapes (honeycomb on bottom grill/vertical lines on top)
2. The background is too bright coming in through the windshield. The example shot shows very little background behind it, it's way too bright in your image.
3. The blacks in your image are shifted too far blue and magenta. The blacks in the example are more neutral.
4. The environmental reflections going on in the example really make the sheet metal liquid and shiny. There's not as many reflections going on in your image. Not sure you can add that sort of thing with a quick fix, but you might want to push the shapes in the sheet metal. It's been referred to me as adding "more muscle" to the sheet metal, pushing lights and darks to exaggerate overall shape.

Maybe it needs some more vignette. The example you showed first seemed to have darker edges.
