I have some techniques what is not so well known but most of the time i use the photoshop tools what everybody use:-)

Thanks for the reply, Calvin. I personally think that the descriptions need to be a bit more specific. Ther eis one which says something like "See Calvin painting a mask". That doesn't show what's the particularity that you do with the masking process. It could be said "See how X subject paints a mask" too. I would love to buy your DVD because I respect your works, but that kind of descriptions make me doubt about doing it (and I don't have the money yet!).

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

I havent found a tutorial with the name "See Calvin painting a mask".

Anyway.... we will work on the descriptions.
This is my first english production and this is not my nativ language.
I am sure there are not only mistakes in the description, there are also mistakes in the language in the tutorials:-)

But the most important thing is that people understand what i explain.
And i am sure they will understand.
Thanks for your feedback.

But what i like to tell you all:

If you are sceptical....dont buy that training.
Wait if people will give feedback about the training.

If you have any questions....let me know:-)

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

I bought the series. I am on the last few videos (there are a ton, all between about 3 and 6 minutes a piece with advanced topics spanning up to 3 videos). I am not prepared to do a full review yet as I want to finish the videos as well and try to replicate some of the work to see how well it adapts to my stuff but my first impression is that it is absolutely fantastic.

This is not a beauty retouching series. Don't expect to learn all types of dodge and burn tricks for skin softening (although Calvin does teach a skin retouching method in the series). Look at Calvin's port and you can see the type of work he does. That is what he discusses in the series.

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

Oh, by the way... Calvin, I really enjoy your presentation style! I have had no trouble at all with your descriptions and just so you know, I don't know what to call those black bars either, well, other than the "black bars". So far I am very pleased, and as mentioned above, I only have about 6 or 7 videos to go.

Thank you for releasing this!

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

That makes me happy.
I was thinking a long long time for doing a english production.
Katrin Eisman was the person who gives me the motivation for doing it when i was at her school.
I am very happy about your words and i hope many other people will think the same way.

I thought you paid some guy to do the descriptions (mostly because you reffer to yourself as "he" ^^).

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

Yes you are absolutly right.
But i wrote all the things what he have to write.
And maybe it was my bad when some desciptions are not 100 % perfect.
But i/we will work on that.

I like to change some titles of the tutorials too.

Being more clear, I thought you where just the Host, like Natalia did with her DVD, and other peson did the production and all that stuff. But as far as I see, you're doing all the job by yourself. Check the descriptions, because they don't set you apart from other authors of other DVD's. We have a big expectation because we know your work, but those who don't know it will probably go for other stuff. I'm very exited thinking on getting your DVD, but as I said before, the little descriptions may mislead. For example, you have a chapter about glow effect, and the way you do it is totally amazing and useful because I saw the tutorial in youtube, but who haven't had watched it will think it's the same lame glow effect found in thousand of blogs and Photoshop Tutorials all around the web.

Btw, I like how you speak English. In my very personal opinion it's good that you don't try to hide that that's not your first languaje

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

Hmmm....
Its very important that the people dont expect to much.
You think the glow effect is amazing....other people think thats easy and boring.
See?
Thats why a description should not be overdone.

By the way....
The training was done all by me.
But the production is a co work with the company "video2brain".

I said that your way to do the glow effect is different and better than the ones found in thousand of websites. You do something with those sliders in the Layers Propierties and other things I've never seen before. The typical glow effect found around the Internet are those where you dup, blur, set to overlay and opacity 50% and that way looks quite horrible, but the way you do it is totally different. Doesn't matter what people like or not, it's the way you do it. You achieve a better looking glow effect with a totally different method, that was what I meant.

Btw, I don't see the relation between the glow effect, people likes and dislikes and the description of the DVD.

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

Well, I know quite a bit about lighting (I teach it) but I dare say that Calvin would find a way to teach me something I didn't already know or a more creative use of something I already do. This brings up a interesting subject (to me at least)...

Calvin, would you mind to talk briefly about the equipment you use in your day to day work? Brands you prefer and such? I know it s not the tool but how you use it, however, I find it amazingly interesting to see what goes into a person's kit.

And finally, I second the vote for a studio tour!

Re: I share my photoshop techniques

Hi All
Its very hard to tell here something about my lightning.
Cause it depends on the job.
Sometimes i shoot in studio with 8 lights, sometimes outdoor with 3 strobes.

You can find many many videos on youtube (like Q told you) where you can see the settings.

Sorry i cant tell you more, it depents on the picture

I have looked all over Calvin's blog but am probably missing it.
Also is it a disk or a download?
Thanks,
