Nienna has a new retouching tutorial up

I hope this is not a duplicate post. Many of you might already know this wonderful young female retoucher, her name is Natalie and goes by Nienna on the Deviant Art website. She has a great retouching video that she did a while back show the use of dodge and burning. Well now her second video is out. I haven't downloaded it yet but the before and after are very nice.

Doug Nelson, if you are listening, I would contact her to see if she'll do a Live session, her work is definitely up there. Here's the link to the video:

They are great tutorials! They totally changed my approach to portrait retouching. More information here:

Any clue about codecs or something? Quick Time plays it, but quite bad, same with VLC. No problems with the DIVx Player. I would like to unistall some apps

Re: Nienna has a new retouching tutorial up

i will use mplayer or vlc for mkv files but it doesn't always play smoothly, i usually end up converting them to a different format using VisualHub (which is no longer available)

After downloading the files, then the programs to decompress the files, then the program to read the decompressed files...it was a damn good tutorial. Phew!

Re: Nienna has a new retouching tutorial up

...(Kind of misplace my post at the old thread, so may as well put it here)

...Can't thank you enough, Nienna, though I couldn't download you VDO as yet since the net at my end is pretty bad at the moment. I did learn a great lot from your first one and kind of know what I can learn from this soon to get one.

...Again, thanks and my appreciation on your greate retouching skills.

Hi Nienna. I downloaded 1 of your videos today. One that starts with a close up of a woman face looking at the camera adn she has some feathers near the jaw, is that one?

This video looks very promising
Has anyone who has already watched the video got comments?

I was unable to watch the first due to the MAC!

Good.

I saw your video yesterday, it's very interesting. You work quite fast (3,5 hours) I would be no less than 6 or so for that editing.

Well, thanks a lot for uploading such amount of MB's and for the video.

PS: When doing D&B I set the curves layers to luminosity, that way you keep the original color saturation.

I actually tried it, and for some pictures it works and for others it comes out bad.

Just not the way (color) i want it to be.

It depends on a picture really.

What I can say is that dark areas tends to loose saturation when enlightening shadows, but for half tones works really nice.
