Re: This Skin Texture (Brush or Pattern)??

In any case there IS a way to put texture back in with a HighPass Method I think it is called.
So the answer of Good Camera etc.. is not the ONLY answer.
Many retouchers put a textured layer, on a High pass layer, on for the skin to have that look the poster was looking for.
I persoanlly never use it but it does work and many do use it by the way.

not for those samples

THAT texture was there to begin with

Was there a high pass layer over to sharpen the texture? Maybe, but the texture from the samples listed in NOT fake or added/recreated in post

No I am not talking about that...
I'll find the tutorial and post it.
It is you take a sample patch of "texture" then clone it and add it like Noise with HighPass. Has NOTHING to do with sharpening.
I find it and post it here. It is a Very cool way of adding texture. I never got around to doing it myself but it is great for exactly what the poster wanted and was looking for.

I know what u are talking about - that's why I said: that's NOT how THESE images were done.

There's no repeated patterns in the face, the texture flows in all the right directions- no texture sampling done here for most of the image

After pouring through the pores this is what I came up with... have fun!!

David Nagel's Photoshop Brushes Series 32
"20 custom brushes designed to produce highly detailed human and animal surface textures. These include scales, bumpy surfaces, wrinkled surfaces and rough surfaces that can be used to simulate a wide variety of textures."

David Nagel's Photoshop Brushes, Series 20
"20 brushes for generating a variety of skin textures--from somewhat smooth skin to freckles, pock marks and blemishes."

David Nagel's Photoshop Brushes Series 27
"20 individual brushes, each with unique nibs, for creating skin textures. Some are meant to be used singly, others in combination to produce greater detail--such as cellular patterns, lines, blemishes and the like. Each includes its own set of full dynamics, which can be modified to suit your own needs."

Skin Texture Photoshop Brushes
(Also Download Other Skin Texture Photoshop Brushes on this page
Download these packs individually:
Skin Textures/Cosmetics v2
Skin Textures/Pores/Hair Stubble v3)

Professional Skin Texture Sharpening
(good read)

That Soft Dior Look for Portraits
(includes a sample of a Skin Pore Texture Map (highpass))

Find a model with GREAT skin and shoot some skin shots using hard side lighting to really show off the pores and some soft lighting but make sure they are extremely sharp photos.. then make some skin pore texture masks and/or skin pore texture patterns and put them on their own different layers and change the modes or you might even use them as displacement maps

Thanks Ol baldy... Now Godmother can polish up her skills as well.
Was goingto take me while to dig it up.
The best way is to get it from the original image.
Never seen or tried the brushes.
You learn something new every day here.

I was under the understanding that you couldn't post someone else's picture unless you obtained their approval regardless if you give them credit or not...am I wrong?

That's the way I read it also... but a link to their site instead of the picture seems to be OK.

How so you post images that big here..?
Do you have to send them to a link? The server here ost are way to tiny.

PS> Does anybody know how to make the smudge tool mae long sweeps. I have tried all the setting s in the tool presets but I can never get it to mak long strokes on High res images.

Even at 100 pressure on my wacom tablet.
Did not want to start a new thread for some simple question.
