Re: Texture in skin!!

Well I'm thinking Ray's opinion is a bit lost regarding the photographer in question. A friend of mine talks to the photographer in question quite a bit and to his knowledge he uses D&B on the skin.

To Meaty0 there are lots of techniques you can do in order to save time but they will not give the exact results as D&B, and some will be far from it.
The real question is "What results are you looking for?" Since its not what is "right" but what's "right for you" for example I've seen lots of comments from photographers that are quite happy with skin retouching plugins or even bluring the skin. Others like D&B and to them there is no substitute.

I have gradually gone from blur to degrunge, to D&B and while I see that the results from D&B are great I sometimes use a combination of degrunge and D&B because of time restraints.

So ask yourself what you're interested in and then research on that.

Re: Texture in skin!!

One of the retouch pro tutorials http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/?m=show&id=213

Godmother has a similar one which I also recommend reading but I don't have the link to that one check her blog

Just remember that the degrunge technique is no substitute for the D&B

Pouring through your post is like a mountain of Helpful Information..

I must admit that I may be cocky some times but your in another League/Planet.
You must have such a bitter life. Really amazes me.

You might want to take Mark up on his offer because with your attitude it might be the last and only chance to get some of that anger released...

You claim to help people but it sounds like you claim to be a know ait all and your post are arrogant and useless in most cases.

By the look of your website you could probably learn some of those New York Texture techniques...

OH SNAP!

Picture 15.png

Look similar to image above. He said he used Gaussian blur and high pass(to keep the skin texture). any blur would work i guess, but a photo needs to have good skin texture to start with.

Re: Texture in skin!!

I really don't like those retouching. They look the hell of artificial, and the skin looks like add noise to a totaled blurred skin. Those retouchs looks really bad.

Re: Texture in skin!!

Quantum, it depends on the clients needs. I do like the more real look but sometimes you're pressed for time, or the client isn't after "real looking" specially if instead of less than an hour per image you take 1 or even 2.

Its just good to know it in order to use it when needed.
